It’s been a few months since we launched Followgram: it was a hot July evening and, being the Instagram lover that we are, we wanted to experiment with Instagram’s API a little bit.
That’s when the coding started….. and in just few hours Followgram’s very first release featuring the follow button and the vanity URL went on-line.
The idea was to create a web “platform” for Instagram not a simple viewer. We wanted to build a Twitter-like platform allowing Instagram’s use via web, emphasizing its features, Instagram’s “social” aspect and its users relationships but always keeping the focus on the pictures. Then we extended the functionality to new features like the photo albums and their consequent Facebook integration, the “like” system and RSS feed.
Thanks to this set-up we have been noted by and featured on The Next web first, then Mashable, CNN, Wired…. and we started to grow.
Today we are happy to celebrate a new milestone: 150.000 followgramers, more than 30.000 follow buttons installed on blogs and websites (on Wired.com and MSNBC too) and the creation of more than 20.000 albums.
We are still growing with significant (for our platform) numbers: Followgram has reached peaks of 40K unique visitors/day and around 300K page views/day.
Less than a month ago Followgram has been the first to launch the Brand Pages (currently beta) which have been activated by 50 brands already of the likes of Ikea Italy, Ford, Fiat, Fastweb, Dolce & Gabbana and many others.
Coming soon new brand pages features increasing the brand’s visibility on Instagram will be released along with many new features helping the users to discover new Instagram’s followers and enthusiasts….
All of this thanks to you…. so thank you all!
We decided to start a Followgr.am blog today because we feel like celebrating.
We are excited to announce that, as of yesterday night, the website has recorded its personal best performance of 13k unique visitors per day …. that’s why we thought: “why not launching a blog and inaugurating it by sharing, with all our fellow Instagram addicts (or not) a cool infographic about Instagram fun facts and Followgr.am’s works in process?”
‘Cause that’s what this blog is going to be about: a way to get in touch with you users and to communicate what’s cooking in Followgr.am’s kitchen (well…we’re italians, u know…).
Setting aside the cooking and eating of spaghetti at all times (duh!) we are currently planning and working on a series of new features that will make Followgr.am waaay cooler and easier to be used, and with the main new features that will evolve around different aspects of social interaction.
So thanks again to each and every Followgr.am user and to all the members of the Instagram community who inspired us to make this project come through.
Without further ado… here’s the Instagram’s fun facts infographic:
